Once there were two little girls who were best friends. They did everything together. As they get older, they weren't allowed to do the same things anymore. Because they looked different. Because of the law.

This is a story about the landmark 1967 Referendum, the two women who came together to change the law... and how the Australia people said YES.

"I love looking through this book, seeing the family faces, remembering the hard work - and the extraordinary response of the Australian People"

"Say Yes is one of my very favourite books... of all time. I love the compassion, empathy and understanding of ‘its just not fair’ my Year One students feel when we read this together. It makes me so proud of them."

"Say Yes, a story about the 1967 referendum fairness and friendship.

This story is a great read about two girls and their friendship in the 1960's and how they were divided by "laws" from what comes naturally to them. Showing us that most children are born with fairness and see no difference in our skin tones the pure innocents in these girls is beautiful. The story tells you how people of Australia voted to do what was right and change the laws that segregated the aboriginal people from things like swimming pools, schools, cinemas, ect.

This book had my children asking allot more questions and with it's simple way of explanation had them understanding the census and 'laws' that were changed.  highly recommend this book."
