“Ask Aunty: Seasons – An Introduction to First Nations Seasons” By Aunty Munya Andrews, Charmaine Ledden-Lewis (Illustrator)
Ask Aunty: Seasons is a delightful and educational picture book that introduces First Nations seasonal calendars to children aged 5 to 10.
Have you ever looked forward to the first day of summer, only to find it cold and rainy? For First Nations peoples, the seasons don’t change with the calendar—they shift with the land, water, plants, animals, and sky.
Aunty Munya introduces readers to the six seasons of her Country. Mankal is the wet season, bringing strong winds from the ocean, while Barrgan is a time of bush fruit abundance. Through this book, children are encouraged to observe the natural world to better understand and connect with Country.
With stunning illustrations by Charmaine Ledden-Lewis, Ask Aunty: Seasons nurtures a sense of respect, understanding, and environmental awareness in all readers.
