Embedding Aboriginal Perspectives | 60 minutes:
In this course, Jess wants to build your cultural confidence and capacity to find ways that you can meaningfully and respectfully include Aboriginal perspectives in your everyday programming curriculum. When talking about embedding Aboriginal perspectives, it is a multifaceted approach.
It is not just about creating a cultural corner but sprinkling Aboriginal artifacts and resources into the curriculum where the children can play and engage. It's also about using children's interests as the vehicle for learning where you include an Aboriginal perspective in context to that genuine interest.
What educators say about our Embedding Aboriginal Perspectives webinar:
"I just watched your recorded webinar on Embedding Cultural Perspectives, and I just wanted to say it is the best webinar I have ever seen on cultural perspectives – I have been an Educator, now Director for 30 years and this webinar was so informative and provided so many programming and resource ideas that we will definitely be embedding into our service. I have all our Team booked in and can’t wait for their responses and comments, thank you so much and again well done!" - Cherie Ison
"Thank you so much! This was very helpful in how to include an Aboriginal Perspective into our centre without it being overwhelming for educators who aren't Aboriginal and are worried about being culturally inappropriate or disrespectful. I have gotten so much out of this webinar. Can't wait to implement what I have learnt today." - Tara Howell
"The session was wonderfully structured and organised and easy for educators to follow. I found the idea of 'sprinkling' Aboriginal perspectives throughout the program and environment to be a wonderful way to communicate and demonstrate the meaningfulness and purposefulness of inclusive practices." - Nicole Gentile
