"Backyard Birds" By Helen Milroy
Backyard Birds is a colourful and charming picture book that introduces children to the birds they might spot in their own backyard – from cheerful kookaburras and cheeky galahs to swooping magpies and darting willy wagtails.
With bold illustrations and simple, engaging language, this book is perfect for early readers and young nature lovers. Milroy’s illustrations reflect a deep spiritual connection to the land and its creatures, inviting children to see their environment with curiosity and care.
This story not only fosters observational skills and environmental awareness but also celebrates the beauty and diversity of native birdlife in Australia.
