"Our Home, Our Heartbeat" By Adam Briggs, Kate Moon & Rachael Sarra (Illustrators) Boardbook
Our Home, Our Heartbeat is adapted from Briggs’ celebrated song The Children Came Back and offers a powerful celebration of First Nations excellence across generations. The story honours past and present Indigenous legends while uplifting the emerging leaders of today, grounded in the world’s oldest continuing cultures.
Briggs’ unmistakable voice and energy pulse through the pages, creating a rhythmic, engaging read-aloud experience that invites children to listen, reflect and connect. This book represents an exciting chapter in contemporary First Nations children’s publishing, blending lyrical storytelling with bold, modern illustration.
Visually striking artwork by Kate Moon and Rachael Sarra complements the text, bringing warmth, movement and meaning to each spread. Through narrative discovery, young readers are introduced to significant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander figures, with additional information provided at the back of the book to support deeper learning.
