"Dharawal Words, Phrases and Activities" By Dr Jodi Edwards, Aunty Barb Simms, Merindah Funnell (Illustrator)
Dharawal Words, Phrases, and Activities
This wonderful resource for young children, educators, and community members responds to the recognition that the revival of Aboriginal languages is essential for a true understanding of the complexity and richness of Aboriginal culture.
Through its words and sentence structures, the Dharawal language reveals an intricate relationship between people and their connection to the land, sea, and sky. Language shapes the way we think and act. Author Dr. Jodi Edwards, in collaboration with Uncle Les Bursill, has pioneered the revival of this nearly lost language, developing this resource to teach the children of the Sutherland Shire and the Illawarra.
Feel empowered as you learn Dharawal words and phrases through engaging activities!
This resource is a wonderful tool for children, educators, and the community. For those already familiar with some Dharawal words, you’ll recognize many familiar terms while discovering new ones thanks to Dr. Jodi Edwards’ extensive research.
