Job Title: Social Media Specialist

Location: Remote, with a strong preference for candidates located in Melbourne, Sydney, or the Central Coast

Experience Level: Mid-level

Employment Type: Contractor (10-20 hours per week). Note there will be an initial ramp up period of hours and training during the transition into the role.

Job Summary: Are you a creative mind with a passion for social media? Do you have a knack for producing engaging content that captivates audiences on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok?

Working with our Operations Manager and our Digital Producer/Marketing Manager you will be responsible for the creation, scheduling, moderation and reporting of on-trend organic and paid content for different audiences across multiple social channels.

Koori Curriculum is a multiple award winning Aboriginal early childhood consultancy based on the Central Coast, NSW. Consultants at the Koori Curriculum facilitate a range of professional development programs and workshops for educators that help guide the inclusion of Aboriginal perspectives in early childhood curriculums.

The Koori Curriculum is operated by Jessica Staines a Wiradjuri woman, early childhood teacher and passionate educational community member, with ties to many advocacy groups on both national and international platforms.

Jessica and the team at Koori Curriculum continue to innovate and create new and diverse ways to reach educators across Australia and the world, adding to the ever-expanding suite of products and services including podcasts, educational resources, exclusive publications, webinars, online summits, conferences, in-services and planning days.

The successful candidate must have an interest in First Nations culture, self-determination and political impacts.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organic Social Media Growth & Lead Generation: Enforce and deliver social media channel strategies including channel launches, to ensure diversification of social presence.

  • Paid Social Media Support: Assist in the development and management of paid social media campaigns across multiple platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, TikTok & Pinterest).

  • Content Creation: Produce on-trend and fit-for-format social content that maximises social media reach and engagement per channel, leveraging existing brand templates and designs

  • Platform Management: Manage and maintain social media profiles, ensuring consistency with brand guidelines.

  • Process Set Up & Maintenance: Map processes, document, train teams, and maintain procedures and maintain processes in Asana.

  • Community Engagement: Interact with followers, respond to comments and messages, and build relationships with the online community.

  • Performance Analysis: Track key metrics, analyse results, and provide insights to optimise social media strategies and campaign performance and generate reports to measure effectiveness and ROI.

  • Collaboration: Work with other departments, such as marketing, customer service and sales, to align social media efforts with overall business goals.

  • Reporting: Prepare reports on social media performance, highlighting key results and areas for improvement.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2-3+ years in social media management, content creation, and digital marketing.

  • Strong communication and writing skills: Ability to write clear, concise, and engaging copy for social media.

  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills: Ability to manage multiple social media platforms and projects simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in social media platforms: Familiarity with platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and others.

  • Content creation skills: Ability to create engaging content, including text, images, and videos.

  • Analytical skills: Ability to track and analyse social media metrics to measure performance.

  • Knowledge of social media trends and best practices: Stay updated on industry trends and adapt strategies accordingly.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team: Ability to collaborate with other departments and contribute to overall marketing efforts.

  • A degree or Batchelor's in marketing, media or communication is desirable but not essential

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role with the ability to work autonomously.

  • Proficient with ZenDesk, ActiveCampaign (basic), Canva and Shopify (basic)

  • Familiarity with Asana, Slack, Microsoft Suite, Google Suite (basic), and Xero (basic).
