Last week I was able to meet with a local Aboriginal group where I asked the Aunties and Uncles if they would like to help name our friend.
The group were very impressed with the quality and detail that had gone into creating Mooki Weelan.
The majority of the Aunties and Uncle’s were from Gunditjmara country and suggested the name Mooki meaning hello and Weelan meaning cockatoo.
The children in the Mini Minors and the Little Genius rooms both showed Mooki Weelan how they do their Acknowledgment to country each morning.
The children and Mooki Weelan are looking forward to a visit from the Djirri Djirri dancers at the end of the week.
We can’t wait to hopefully share some photos with all of you.

This cheeky Cockatoo full-body Hand puppet is from the Australian Native collection and has been carefully hand crafted in partnership with wildlife experts and brought to life with meticulous attention to detail.
This cockatoo’s feathers have been recreated with exceptionally soft faux fur and highlighted with yellow airbrush shading. Grey airbrush shading also highlights his big eyes and blends his grey beak perfectly.
With his outstretched wings, he is ready to shake his tail feather, simply pop your hand inside the beautifully lined fabric and watch him take flight. The perfect gift to spark memories of Australia
