NAIDOC Week 2023 Competition Winner

NAIDOC Week 2023 Competition Winner

Aunty Carol is a Darug and Gundungurra Elder, living in Katoomba. She recently received an Order of Australia medal for her service to the Indigenous and non Indigenous communities of The Blue Mountains.

Aunty Carol is a dearly-loved member of our community, who regularly visits our school, St Canice’s Primary School, Katoomba.

Some of our students, from Kindergarten to Year 6, Anh, Ava, Grace, Jordyn, Sophia and Violet, wrote these words to nominate Aunty Carol for the Koori Curriculum competition. Their voice represents the voices of all of our community. Their words, written below, were shared with our wider community at our NAIDOC Week Assembly on Friday, 30 June 2023.
