Authentic Aboriginal Coasters - Warlukurlangu Art
Warlukurlangu Artists are based in yuendumu, about three and a half hours drive north west of Alice Spring. Established in 1985, it is one of the most significant aboriginal centres in Australia. Over 400 men, women, and children make up the membership of the Association, open to Warlpiri and Anmatyerre people from Yuendumu and surround homelands.
The arts centre is 100% Aboriginal owned, and as befits its non-profit making status, returns over 2/3 of the proceeds from sales of artwork to its membership.
The centre specializes in acrylic paintings, screen prints and etchings. It also participates in large commission, traditional artefacts and sand paintings. The art centre seeks to foster a growing understanding of Indigenous culture and enhance the lives of the local people.
